Think You've Tried Everything for Chronic Pain? Here's Why You Haven't...

Have you ever felt like you've tried everything to get rid of your Chronic pain, only to end up frustrated and still hurting? You're not alone. I've talked to many people who feel the same way. They’ve tried physio, exercise programs, personal trainers – the whole lot. But here's the kicker: if you haven't worked with an Active Life Professional (ALP), you haven't tried everything. Let me tell you why.

What You Might Have Tried for Your Chronic Pain

Physiotherapy

I've heard countless stories like this: "I tried physio, which helped a little, but never fully solved the problem." Physiotherapists do amazing work, especially with acute pain and post-surgery recovery. They're great at getting you back to basic activities like walking and using the toilet. But they're often too busy to go beyond that. For example, my dad had a full knee replacement. His physio sessions were three group sessions, and while they helped, he still struggled to walk properly. Physios are incredible at what they do, but their scope is limited.

Personal Trainers

Then there are the personal trainers. "I followed an online program," "I had a few sessions with a local trainer," or even "I did group classes." These trainers are fantastic at getting you stronger, fitter, and leaner. But when it comes to pain, their typical advice is to work around it – avoid movements that hurt. This keeps you moving but doesn't solve the problem. Plus, let's be honest, some personal trainers get certified quickly online without much in-depth knowledge. They're not all equipped to handle chronic pain.

Exercise Programs

Some people tell me they’re afraid to try exercise because they worry it will make the pain worse. And that's a valid concern. Generic exercise programs can sometimes exacerbate pain if they’re not tailored to your specific needs.

Why Active Life Professionals Are Different

When I tell people I can get them out of pain using strength training and lifestyle modifications, the response is often, "I've tried that, and it didn't work." But here's the truth: you've tried something like what I do but haven't worked with an ALP.

The ALP Difference

Education and Training

First, let’s talk education. As an ALP, I've undergone 13 months of rigorous training, complete with assessments, assignments, and video reviews. I also spent one hour each month on 1-on-1 mentorship calls. We’re taught to assess and test people in pain, educate them, and design the best program to get them back to their active lives as quickly as possible.

Comprehensive Assessment

Before we start working together, I’ll spend at least an hour assessing you and asking questions. I want to ensure I’m the best fit for you—not just someone who takes on anyone with a credit card. I've heard of gyms and trainers where the consultation lasts just 8 minutes. That's not enough to understand your unique situation.

Personalised Program Design for Chronic Pain

We don’t just work around pain; we work on it. I can pick up where physio left off, continuing the progression to get you back to your daily activities and beyond.

Education and Mentorship

I don’t just give you a program; I educate and mentor you. I want to know your stress, lifestyle, sleep, nutrition, and what you enjoy doing. I aim to ensure you understand why we’re doing what we’re doing. Eventually, you’ll be able to manage your pain independently with confidence and competence. I’m not just here to count reps and cue movements – I’m here to make a real, lasting change in your life.

So, if you’ve tried physio, personal trainers, and exercise programs and still feel pain, it might be time to consider working with an Active Life Professional. Our comprehensive, personalised approach addresses pain at its root and helps you achieve long-term relief.
